Experience:
Bruce Cartwright is a managing director in the Denver office and part of the Tax Services business unit. He has 13 years of tax consultation experience.
Bruce’s property tax consulting experience has focused on utilities (airlines, cellular telephone companies, fiber companies, pipelines, independent and incumbent power producers, cooperative electric utilities and local distribution companies); specialized industries, including skiing, hospitality and others; hotel valuation; personal property; and oil and gas valuation. He has successfully performed hundreds of valuation analysis, property tax appeals, negotiations, litigation support, personal property valuation and appeal processing and cost of capital determination.
Prior to joining Duff & Phelps, Bruce was the director for Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Tax Practice. Prior to joining S&P, Bruce was a senior manager in the Property Tax Services group for both Ernst & Young and Deloitte and Touche. He was responsible for the development and growth of the property tax practices, concentrating in the area of complex properties. Industries which he has served include integrated oil and gas companies, oil and gas pipelines and terminals, commercial office properties, independent electric generation, integrated electric generation, satellite television, residential development properties, hotels and industrial properties.
Specialization:
Real property valuations (major properties), land development analyses, new construction audits, and ski, hotel & golf resort valuations. Personal property audits involving reclassification of assets, depreciation schedules, and obsolescence.
Education:
B.A. in business administration from Albion College. CMI designation from the Institute for Professionals in Taxation.
