Mr. Appel began his real estate career at CB Richard Ellis, Inc., NY, NY where he handled major commercial real estate transactions from 1984-1991. During that time, he obtained his J.D. providing an opportunity to enter the legal profession. Before starting his own ad valorem tax consulting firm in Florida in 1994, Mr. Appel gained valuable experience at the Law Firm of Buchanan Ingersoll, P. C., Aventura, FL, Deloitte & Touche, NY, NY and Real Estate Tax Services, Inc., one of the largest independent property tax consulting firms. He also obtained his LL.M. in Taxation. In 1996, Mr. Appel formed Bates-Appel, Inc., to better serve a broad range of issues relating to property tax assessments including historic preservation tax incentives both locally and nationally. He continues his practice in Miami presently as the sole principal with a group of professionals to manage every area of property tax consulting, Property Tax Adjusters, Inc.
